About Us

What started as a one-man operation offering hard to get, individual pieces that were non-existent in the heritage menswear world, is now a global brand with large bi-annual collections. For over 10 years Cathcart London has been an established presence in the menswear industry, and the trusted choice of style enthusiasts from all walks of life and all corners of the globe.

As the market and trends have shifted more towards slow fashion and natural yarns, Cathcart London has hit its stride and grown into the foremost purveyor of classic British style, offering timeless apparel in a modern context. In recent years, the rise of sportswear and the decline of the suit has collided with renewed interest in timeless style from bygone eras, as men place emphasis on classicism, by way of learning about the history of menswear, investing in quality garments and observing the details of the rich history of dress codes, textures, colours and yarns.

From its humble beginnings as the first brand to offer authentically styled early 20th Century polo shirts, Cathcart’s debut has accelerated the renewed interest in classic style and since then has gone on to dress thousands of stylish men and women around the world. This explosion has attracted Hollywood costume designers, TV personalities, rock bands, jazz musicals, West End shows and, of course, those who simply appreciate timeless style. The influence of the brand has stretched far and wide. It has worked with some of the best makers in the world to deliver unique, classic menswear that hitherto has been impossible to find on the market. Cathcart offers just about everything a man requires, from classic tailoring to footwear, and from denim jeans to accessories of all kinds.

The brand is a family business based in South-West London. Established in 2014, the company is run by brothers James and George Cathcart. In an era when menswear had begun to lose its sense of direction, the brothers were heavily influenced by vintage and classic style, taking their lead from their father who has been collecting classic menswear since the 1980s. James and George have launched retail stores, most recently in Notting Hill, London, and have turned what was a small business into a respected global brand in the realm of classic menswear, documented by top journals such as The Rake, GQ and New York Times, and heavily featured in prominent menswear shows like Pitti Uomo.

Craftsmanship and quality are the heart of Cathcart London. The brand manufactures worldwide, including the UK, and all our factories must meet strict quality standards before partnering with Cathcart. The company only manufactures with 100% natural fibres, such as wool, cotton, silk, linen and even bamboo. For its Made-to-Measure service, Cathcart has partnered with the very best mills in the UK and Ireland, like Dugdale, Standeven and Alfred Brown, who have been weaving some of the finest cloths in the world for centuries.

Furthermore, Cathcart is always looking to partner with factories who share the same passion for classic style and traditional manufacturing techniques, most of them also family run businesses like Cathcart. This appreciation and sympathy for tradition in making and detailing translates a great deal into the final product and sets Cathcart apart from many others in the industry. The brand obsesses over quality, right down to the last stitch. From button sewing to washcare, it is these small details that really transform the wearing and owning experience of a Cathcart garment. The company’s designers create apparel that are truly built to last, something that can be worn time and time again, day-in and day-out, and that will evolve beautifully over time with wear.
