Here are three vintage British ties from the late 1940s/early 1950s. In the late 1940s, inspired by American ties of the period, ‘Bold Look’ ties – featuring vivid patterns and bold colours – were introduced to the British market, courtesy of local manufacturers wishing to cash in on the popularity of Hollywood-inspired fashions and the styles seen worn by the ever-present American servicemen. As this was a brief fashion in the UK, these ties are now incredibly rare and are popular among vintage collectors searching for an authentically British late-1940s look.
